Singularis Senior Associate Receives National “Rising Star” Award

Aaron Trost

Campaigns and Elections Magazine has announced that Aaron Trost, a Senior Associate with The Singularis Group, has been selected to receive its annual “Rising Star” Award.

The Rising Star Award is a coveted honor for campaign professionals 35 and under. Each year, the magazine grants the award to 25 political operatives, hailing from both parties, who have made significant contributions to the political campaign industry. Past Rising Star award winners include such notables as James Carville, Alex Castellanos, David Axelrod, Ed Gillespie, Laura Ingraham and George Stephanopoulos.

Trost received the award for his leadership of Nebraska State Senator Deb Fischer’s victorious campaign for U.S. Senate in 2012. In the Republican Primary, Fischer began with a 35-point deficit in the polls and was outspent 10-to-1 by Attorney General Jon Bruning. Combining a dynamic grassroots campaign with timely endorsements and a targeted advertising strategy, Fischer shocked the political world by staging a dramatic, come-from-behind victory. In the end, she soundly defeated both Bruning and State Treasurer Don Stenberg, who had received the endorsement of several national conservative groups. As the GOP nominee, Fischer then faced former Governor, U.S. Senator and Presidential candidate, Bob Kerrey, in the general election. Despite again being outspent, Fischer won a decisive 16-point victory and was the only Republican Senate pickup of the 2012 cycle.

‘”I’m very humbled to receive the Rising Star award,” said Trost. “It was a great honor to serve Senator Fischer, a public servant of tremendous honesty and integrity. Having a great candidate who worked tirelessly and ran for the right reasons, coupled with an outstanding staff and dedicated volunteers, made managing Senator Fischer’s race the greatest joy I have had in my professional life. I look forward to helping elect more good, honest conservatives to get our country back on track.”

Raised in Naperville, Illinois and a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Trost resides in Lenexa, Kansas. His Rising Star profile may be read in the online addition of Campaigns and Elections and can be accessed by clicking here.
